The Desert Remembers
The desert remembers
You suffering, betrayal and defeat.
Bring forth you second in command,
and make him the king.
Let him guide your ship
Let him point the way
He will bring back the blossoms to you garden,
The strength to your muscles,
And your friends to your door
Your gift was never in war, domination or envy.
But in forgiving your enemies
Dreaming while awake
And flying without wings
Every scar carries a lesson,
But you cut yourself on purpose.
Every tide brings waves,
But you drown yourself in them.
Every evening brings darkness,
But you fall into it.
Your life is your own,
And let no man tell you your path
But tell me this
Will freezing bring the rain?
Will complaining bring peace?
Will crying bring the songs?
I carry no answers
All I have are questions
All I carry are questions
Just like you.
